The Lady Garden

Tea and Strumpets

Cocktails.

It’s been quite the week here at TLG, hasn’t it? We’ve had abortion, man-loving, More of Emma’s brilliance on porn, women’s health, a guest review, and fashion, and New Zealand’s damn media.

I’ll admit, I have struggled with some of the comments here, and elsewhere where people have taken up the victim-blaming mantle. (If you’re sick of it, here‘s a piece of joy from Jill. – H/T Deborah.) Add in a couple of nasty emails, including one calling me a slut – as though every word I have written here hasn’t indicated that while I hate the word, if I am one, I am proud of it – and it’s been quite the week. Still, you’re not a real blogger until you get hate mail, right?

So, I’d like to buy you all a drink. Come out back of the garden, where we play, and have a mojito, nestled in some greenery.

And of course, there will be no warnings about your drinking/attire/general dirty sluttitude. Enjoy your virtual bad behaviour.

Nice glass of chardonnay for me, I think.

In my part of the world Thursday is the last day of the working week, *and* this is the last day I’ll be working behind someone else’s desk for at least six months, so I’ll buy the second round if you like. *chink-chink*

Just a cheerful reminder that many trans men still have breasts and that mammograms aren’t solely a ‘women’s health’ issue.

Missed this comment when you made it, Scar – sorry. Yes, men can get breast cancer too, ‘though not at the same rate as women do. It’s one of the problems of making the various campaigns about breast cancer highly gendered: men, and women, aren’t aware that men can be vulnerable to it too.
